St. Mary’s School Amanattantheri

St. Mary’s School, Amanattantheri was inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Remigius D.D Bishop of Kottar on 8th June 2015. It was the vision of the priests of the then Colachel Vicariate.

The first academic year from Pre-KG to I Std. began on 15th June with 145 students, 7 teaching staff, 2 office staff and 5 helpers. Sr. Susan Peter SAP was appointed as the Principal and Fr. Gino Mathew as the Correspondent of the School.

With proud I can say that, this is the only CBSE School in our District which provides Mid-day meal for the students. The reason for this is, to bring uniformity and to give nutritious food for all the children. We get a positive feedback from the parents for this initiative.

May 3rd 2017 was a special day for Mariyan family. Rev. Fr. Dr. M. Jesudhasan became the new correspondent to lead this Mariyan family further on the way of progress and achievements. Under the guidance of our efficient Correspondent we are trying to fulfill the mission and the vision of Mariyan family.

On 29th June was another great day not only for the Mariyan family but also for the R.C Diocese of Kottar. Rt. Rev. Dr. Nazarene Soosai was consecrated as the new Bishop of Kottar Diocese and the Patron of St. Mary’s School. We solicit your paternal guidance to lead us further in our mission of education and faith formation through this St. Mary’s School.

On 1st September 2021 Fr. L. Ambrose has taken charge as the bursar of the school. On 24th June 2021 he took charge as the correspondent of the school. The management is ever grateful to Fr. M. Jesudhason who worked as a correspondent of the school for the last four years. With the hard work of our management and our correspondent on 28th of October, 2021 we had obtained the Recognition from the government of Tamil Nadu. We have applied for affiliation on 31st October 2021.

Regular monthly exams are conducted to measure their caliber where slow learners are singled out and remedial measures are taken to help them do better in their studies at the same time gifted students are encouraged to excel in keeping with their aptitude.

Our students are divided into four houses. This is to instill in them a sense of belonging, a healthy spirit of competition and gives them added space to exhibit their talents. Apart from the curricular activities we organize communicative English classes to boost communicative skills of the students. The importance is also given to Mother Tongue and Hindi.

Students are encouraged to recognize and to develop their own interest through five club activities such as: Sports, Arts, Cultural, Music and Karate. All these extracurricular activities equip our students with Strict Discipline, Good manners, Strong Values, Social Ethics and. Integral Education. Students are provided with opportunities to learn through different methods of learning. Observational visits, such as field trip, seminars and group activities, are arranged from time to time to facilitate their process of learning.

The school organizes various programs for the welfare of the students and different celebrations mark the National and cultural festivities of our country and local reality. For the betterment of the administration the management under the correspondent’s able guidance, we have created advisory committee, sanitary committee and food committee. These special committees helping in the smooth running of the school

Just like the management the school is blessed with good and highly qualified staff. To update their knowledge very often the management arranges skill development programs for the staff. Like

  • Self Awareness
  • Children in the Classroom
  • Skill Development
  • Stress Management
  • How to Handle CBSE Classes and CBSE Rules and Regulations

We have a healthy relationship with our parents, we have a good PTA and the PTA executive is acts as bridge between parents and the management. During this pandemic time we had organized four seminars for parents on the topic “home as school situation” mostly all of them attended and benefited from this. Very often we have class wise meetings with parents.

We believe that with the constant assistance of Divine grace, we can impart good education to these little ones, as we have a good management, qualified and dedicated staff. We can train them to be good citizens of India.
